I just go some really bad news about Nicotine who were slated to play with DBS, Downway and The Fallout tomorrow at Foggy Notions. They were in Winnipeg last night and their sound man was shot in the face with a pellet gun and beaten by gang members outside the show venue last night. It was apparently unprovoked and completely random.
The pellet has lodged in his eye and will require extensive surgery. Whether the eye can be saved or not is uncertain. Brain damage is also possible. The shooter was 14 years old and a member of an aboriginal gang. He remains at large.
Needless to say, Nicotine will not be playing tomorrow. The band is from Japan and one of the band members has remained behind with the injured soundman as he speaks very poor English. Tickets will be discounted by $2 tomorrow ($8 advance/$10 door instead of $10 and $12). Those who have already purchased advance tickets will have the $2 refunded at the door. I hope people will donate the $2 to the band as they will face considerable lost revenue related to this incident.
The remaining band members will be there tomorrow to sell merchandise and CDs. Please buy as much as you can to support these guys and let them know that all Canadians are not not a very nice persons. I'm sure they know this already but it brings me great shame that this happened in our country. We will also be selling Foggy Style compilation CDs tomorrow for $5 with all proceeds going to Nicotine.
